Liwa: The Empty Quarter, Abu Dhabi
Liwa is located in the Rub' al Khali — the Empty
Quarter — the largest continuous sand desert in the world. The Hameem area of Abu Dhabi features some of the tallest and most dramatic dunes in the UAE, with red-orange sand that reaches its most vivid colour at golden hour.
Overnight temperatures drop slightly compared to Dubai — even in March and April — making this a genuinely different climate experience. The absence of city light means a night sky of extraordinary clarity. Most people who do Liwa once book again the same season.
