Al Buraimi Weekend: Fern Gulley - Wadi Madbah
Just over the Oman border, this is one of those quiet little escapes that feels much further away than it actually is.
We’ll cross into Al Buraimi with an easy border crossing and head straight to our glamping site at Jabal Qatar, We will have glamping tents big enough for the whole family. We will cook dinner over the fire and settle in for the night in traditional camping style, just with a bigger tent !
Friday morning:
Today is our day to spend in Wadi Madbah, with a hike through the farms and into the wadi where we can jump into the water and weave our way through the canyon for around 3 hours.
In the evening, we settle into our campsite at the bottom of Fern Gulley, also known as Jabal Qatar, a very quiet area at the bottom of a mountain! Sleep in our Glamping tents with air mattresses.
This is your opportunity to teach the kids how to cook over the fire, roast marshmallows and enjoy their first evening in a. tent. You will each get your own glamping tent - one huge tent for the family!
You’ll have a comfortable space that adds to the feeling of being completely away from the city without having traveled far.
Early the next morning, before the day warms up, we head out to Fern Gully — a beautiful somewhat hike filled with greenery, rock formations, and quiet corners that feel almost hidden. It’s a short but memorable walk and a perfect way to close the retreat before returning to Dubai.
This experience is especially lovely for families and kids, with plenty of time to swim, explore, and move at a relaxed pace rather than rushing from one activity to the next.
Hiking boots are recommended but not required.
Location & Car Access: 1 hour 30 minutes from Dubai or Abu Dhabi: Crossing Border at Al Katem. Off Road Car is required to reach our campsite.
Distance & Duration of the Hike: Approximately 9KM loop trail with 500 of elevation gain over the entire trek, this will take about 5.5 hours to complete the circuit.
