The Kazakhstan Jeep/Hike Adventure to Another World

This is an off the grid adventure like no other!

An Adventure Totally Off the Grid: unlike our other Kazakhstan Trips, this is to a totally different part of the country.

This is to the Westernmost side of Kazkahstan, near Aktau.

The scenery is otherworldly.

Itinerary:

Day 1; Flights: Fly on. Fly Dubai- direct to Almaty. Domestic flight to Aktau from Almaty later the same day. Overnight in Aktau.

Day 2: Depart Aktau and drive west into the ancient world.

• Visit the Sultan Epe Mosque, then hike down into the Shakpak-ata gorge to explore the underground mosque carved into the rock.

• In the evening, camp in Kapamsay Canyon for a night of stargazing under the open sky. Overnight in tents. BLD

Day 3: 01.06 - Kapamsay – Torysh Stone Balls – Kokkala – Sherkala Mountain – Airakty Valley of Castles

• Leave the white cliffs of Kapamsay and drive to Torysh to walk among the scattered stone spheres of the Valley of Stones.

• Continue to Sherkala Mountain for photos of the lone limestone peak

• Drive to Airakty, the Valley of Castles

• Hike among wind-carved rock formations. Camp among them.

Day 4: - Airakty – Black Canyons – Sora Tuzbair Salt Flat

• Drive from Airakty into the Black Canyons to hike its jagged volcanic ridges. Descend toward the Sora Tuzbair salt flat and set up camp on its edge.

• Hike onto the blinding white expanse before nightfall.

Day 5: Sora Tuzbair – Bozjyra Tract

• Drive to Bozjyra and hike among the towering white chalk cliffs, one of the region's most spectacular formations.

• Set up camp beneath them and watch the sunset light up the western horizon in orange and violet.

Day 6 - Bozjyra – Bokty Mountain – Kyzylkup Valley

• Travel to Bokty Mountain, a flat-topped mesa overlooking the steppe

• Continue into the Kyzylkup Valley to walk among its red clay formations and eroded pillars. Camp in this Martian landscape for the night.

Day 7 - Kyzylkup "Tiramisu" – Tuyesu Sand Dunes – Aktau

• Walk through the layered earth formations of the Kyzylkup "Tiramisu," then head to the towering Tuyesu sand dunes for a final hike among the rolling barkhans.

• Return to Aktau for a celebratory dinner at the hotel.

Day 8: Fly back to Almaty - flight dependent: possible overnight in Almaty.
