Mt Kenya Trekking Peak: 4895M

  • UAE Trekkers Nanyuki, Laikipia County Kenya (map)

Climb to Mt Kenya’s highest Trekking Peak: Point Lenana at 4895m over 5 days. More beautiful and scenic than you can imagine, without the crowds of Kilimanjaro. A great ‘test’ to see if you are ready for Kili! Camp in a comfortable single tent with a private toilet, expert guides and amazing food for 5 days.

Spend the December holidays on one of Africa's great mountains.

Overview

Mount Kenya is Africa's second highest mountain, a rugged, glaciated peak rising out of the Kenyan highlands. Its jagged summits, alpine lakes, giant lobelias and sweeping valleys make it one of the most beautiful treks on the continent, and it is often quieter than its famous neighbour, Kilimanjaro.

Our trek leads to Point Lenana at 4,985 m, the highest point reachable on foot without technical climbing, with sunrise views across the mountain and the plains below. The trek leads you through changing landscapes, from forest and bamboo to moorland and rocky high country, before the final push to Point Lenana.

Our itinerary is paced to give your body time to adjust to the altitude, because good acclimatisation is what makes the difference between summit day being a struggle and a highlight. [Route name and number of days]

Who It Is For

This trek suits hikers who already have some mountain experience and good fitness, such as those who have completed longer hikes in the UAE or Oman. If Jabal Shams feels comfortable, Mount Kenya is a natural next step. We recommend training in the weeks before you go, and we are happy to advise you on how to prepare.

Cost: 8500 Dh + flights to Kenya
