Pakistan: Fairy Meadows and Nanga Parbat Base Camp

Overview:

Pakistan will surprise you! Yes. Its perfectly safe! Easily one of the most spectacular treks on earth- surrounded by all 3 of the world’s biggest mountain ranges: Himalayas, Hindu Kush, and the Karakourum. We will spend one night in tents in the base camp, but the rest of the trip in comfortable huts with en suite bathrooms and showers.

What we all loved was that it was so remote and the culture of Pakistan and that the mountains surouding you were spectacular. We felt that our itinerary needed a little more challenge, so we have added 1 day/night at Nanga Parbat Base Camp itself before returning back down.

Difficulty: Believe it or not, this is the most accessible climb you can get as a fit beginner/intermediate trekker. The hiking days are short, made a bit shorter by our camping night at the base camp. 5 hours per day, with gradual and excellent trails underfoot, and one glacier crossing which is very exciting. Elevation gain is gradual, altitude is not over 4000m which makes it very doable for most fit hikers.

Getting there:

We are hoping to fly directly from Dubai to Skardu - and our return will be via Karachi to Dubai. However, we may be forced to fly to Gilgit and then take a domestic flight to Gilgit after we arrive to Islamabad.

Total Cost: 7000 Dh Plus flights
