Climb Shams in Winter
If you are missing the cold weather, just drive a few hours south and start climbing! Prepare for temps around 0-5C. The highest peak in the GCC at 3009 meters, This offers an amazing opportunity to feel real winter in Oman.
Itinerary
Arrive on Friday and settle in, preparing for an early Saturday morning ascent. This winter climb offers cold temperatures BUT less daylight hours, providing an ideal setting for your adventure as long as you are fit! There will be just a full 8 hours of daylight. The start will be before sunrise at 6 am, with a plan to finish by 4 pm. We will spend the night on Saturday and drive back on Sunday morning.
Accomodation
We are staying in a villa hotel close to Jabal Shams Resort in single rooms with limited availability. We will go to the Jabal Shams resort for dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning.
Transportation
Carpooling is the best and cheapest option to share. costs.
Our guides will stay with you and keep you on pace to summit - or the campsite and get back down - within your limits.
Cost: We have chosen to make this event more independent so we can run it with just 3 participants.

We cannot sufficiently describe how hard Jabal Shams is. This is our best shot: First timers should be plan to reach the campsite 2850 M for a 10 hours trek. Only staying at the pace of the guide will allow you to reach summit and return in time for sunset.
