Experience Wadi Koob in Ras al Khaimah

Trail Description

Start the journey on a long flat 3KM walk over rocks to reach the canyon as you will wonder what all of the hype was..

But once you arrive to the actual wadi - the fun begins: a new set of challenges are presented. Every 100 meters the terrain will give you a new challenge: a set of steep stairs, huge boulders to climb over, a via ferrata, scramble on a ledge - crawl under an overhanging rock.

Although there is not much elevation gain. It is all scrambling and bouldering with significant exposure to heights, narrow ledges and slippery cliffs! A total of around 12 km with around 300 M of total elevation gain and loss that you will barely feel.This is a hike that demands attention from a guide! An unclear path, risky ascents and cliffs and a lot of risk.

TREK LOGISTICS

• MEETING TIME: 5:15 am

  • We need to drive for around 20 minutes in off road cars to go as far as we can to reach the hiking start point.

  • The pin is the last spot on the tarmac road.

  • Non off road cars can be left here.

  • Guides can also drive people in their cars.

• WHAT TO BRING:

  This hike is very exposed to the sun for the first and last 4 KM on a long walk through the wadi. That’s 30-40 minutes. You don’t want to run out of water on that last stretch.

  • MINIMUM 3 LITERS OF WATER.

  • 4 LITERS PREFERRED

  • ELECTROLYTES

  • SALTY SNACKS

  • SUGARY SNACKS

  • SUN HAT - COVERS YOU WHOLE HEAD NOT A CAP

  • Long sleeve light weight shirt better for sun exposure

  • Hiking boots - strongly strongly recommended for the rocks and boulders.

  • Spare pair of socks (if you get sweaty, this can prevent blisters)

  • Backpack for hiking
