Hatta:Back Country Trails - New Routes

  • UAE Trekkers Suhaila Lake Rest Area Hatta United Arab Emirates (map)

Overview of the Hatta Back Country Trails

In the Hajar Mountains Mountain Trails offer over 30 km of purpose-built walking routes weaving through rocky ridges, sandy valleys, and shaded wadis. Colour‑coded for all levels of hikers and bikers—ranging from gentle family-friendly paths to challenging uphill routes—the trails span diverse terrain and provide breathtaking views over Hatta Dam, Oman’s border hills, and scattered palm groves below. We have a unique route combining some of the older and newer trails to make a perfect fit for beginners and intermediate hikers.

Location & Car Access:
Just 1 hour 40 min from Dubai. We will park in the Suhaila Lake camping site.

Distance & Duration of the Hike:
Approximately 7KM loop trail, with a maximum of 50 m of elevation gain over the entire trek, this will take about 2.5 hours to complete the circuit.

Highlights: We start going around the back of the mountain towards the dam and entering into the wadi. We will stop here for a nice break and snack. We will end doing the lesser walked part of the wadi and return on a different route back to the cars for a loop circuit avoiding too much elevation.

What We Provide

  • Group Size: Small groups under 10 (max 15) with two guides to keep everyone together.

  • Guides: Experienced, Wilderness First Aid–certified, and registered with Fujairah Adventures.:

  • Backpack includes 2–3 L water, electrolytes, and a hearty summit snack.

  • Chilled juice and cold water at the end of the hike.

    Trek Level:

  • Beginner and out of shape after the summer. We expect people to take time to adjust to the heat but eager to get back outdoors, so our goal is to keep the pace slow and sustained with lots of time to adjust.

Cost:

  • Adults: 275 DH + vat

  • Kids; 200 DH + vat

Transportation - additional 200 Dh per person groups! We usually have groups of less than 10 hikers, maximum 15 with 2 guides to ensure everyone hikes at their own pace and nobody is ever hiking alone feeling ‘left behind’

If you have done this with us in the past, this will be an entirely new route in order to avoid the car shuttle off road section. has designed completely new trails, complete with shaded shelters along the way. However, they are somewhat confusing for the average hiker, We use a combination of old and new trails to mostly avoid meeting any other hikers or bikers and get the best views. If you did Hatta with us last season, these routes are completely different and will be a refreshing and exciting hike that you will really enjoy!

Cost: 275 DH plus vat per adult; 200 DH plus vat per kid

Transportation option: 200 DH per person
