Overview: Discover a gentler side of Leopard Canyon (Wadi Al Nimr) with our “Hanging Garden Access” beginner option—an inviting walk that skips the technical climbs while still delivering canyon charm. The route starts in the shadow of Wadi Qaddah village, then transitions into a gentle boulder‑hop beneath soaring canyon walls, culminating at a unique rock “balcony” thick with natural greenery. We will only walk through the wadi to reach the hanging. gardens and return along the cliff to get a magical sunset view!
Although it is a short distance of scenic wadi walking to reach the main Hanging Garden, it will take a lot longer than you think as it is climbing boulders and scrambling around trees and rocks, so its a very slow walk. This version avoids the steeper scree slopes and vertical wall that follow, instead returning along the same accessible stretch through shaded canyons—ideal for new hikers seeking beauty without the worry of the steep scree slopes that come along with the more challenging version of this hike.
Leopard Canyon and Hanging Gardens in RAK
Location & Access: Just 1 hour 30 minutes from Dubai.
Off road access is required from the end of the road so carpooling from this section will be necessary if you are not able to take your car off road.
Distance & Duration of the Hike: Approximately 4-5 KM in and out, with very little elevation gain, this will still take about 2½ to 3 hours up the rocky and bouldery wadi to reach a dramatic viewpoint, climb to the cliff viewpoint and return to our cars.
Highlights:
We start, as usual, to avoid the heat.
The hike is a gradual walk through the wadi, without much elevation gain.
The wadi is mostly shaded, especially in the morning
The hanging gardens are the end of the hike, where we will turn around and come back on the ledge of the ridge, discovering the old village houses at the top overlooking the valley.
Hiking boots are strongly recommended for walks in the boulders
